Tree Inventories for Agencies, Counties and Municipalities
Contract Terms
The following items are the major portions of work to be reviewed for inclusion in your tree inventory project.
- GIS based computerized urban forest management dataset. There are up to 25 inventory data items and maintenance records that can be chosen for inclusion in your project. This dataset will operate on client's own GIS program or database program. It can be a layer for the tree inventory information, maintenance records, and GPS position points. If no GIS program is in use, there is an additional cost for purchase and installation. There are tree inventory and urban forest management database programs available to use for this project. We will assist client in evaluating what is the most cost effective and usable software package to include for the project.
- Tree inventory by a professional arborist, collecting tree information and measurements for each tree included in this project. Project should require ISA Certified Arborist and SAF Certified Forester for inventory team. Dataset must be approved prior to starting data collection for this project.
- Collection of GPS location data for trees and other requested property features (property corners, building corners/walls, light poles, sports field outlines, parking lots, sidewalks, etc.) included in this project. These will be loaded into the GIS program with the tree inventory data.
- Setup and processing of GPS and tree inventory data records into GIS and/or tree inventory database program, reconciling of data points on maps, error checks and corrections, installation into client on-site computer.
- Training of client staff on site using your computer(s). Topics focus on use of tree inventory information and map layer in the GIS program. Class is one instructor for up to 6 people.
- Urban Forest Management Plan including summaries of data, estimated work budgets, area/section maps, tree maintenance specifications, and recommendations for improving values of your urban forest, while controlling and reducing overall maintenance costs.
