We are familiar with different types of properties because we do consulting for municipalities, associations, landscape maintenance contractors, tree services and property management companies. We have also evaluated, and set up maintenance programs for landscapes of private residence owners.

Earth Advisors has personnel that work daily in the evaluation and management of the natural resources found on your properties. We are also capable and interested to additionally provide on-call consulting and support services to assist your staff and contractors in using the information you purchase. This is a trademark service, based on our evaluation methods and documentation formats that are a leader in the industry. Earth Advisors’ consultants evaluate the current condition of your landscape using Earth Advisors Health and Condition Evaluation standards and worksheets. We include all plants and plant beds (trees, palms, hedges, shrubs, ornamentals, annuals, groundcovers, lawn areas), or a subset based on the scope of a project.

The recommendations we provide will:

  • Help you improve the health and sustainability of your landscape plants
  • Provide recommendations for more sustainable, cost effective plant choices
  • Help you control annual maintenance and capital costs
  • Provide you a basis to ensure that 100% of contracted work is completed
  • Recommend current Best Management Practices for you landscape
  • We review the results of the evaluation with our clients to discuss the recommendations and assist with next step decisions based on the Summary Report

The following items are the major portions of work to be reviewed for inclusion in your Landscape Health and Condition Evaluation:

  • Perform Landscape Health and Condition Evaluation for all landscape items using Earth Advisors evaluation standards and worksheets.  This can include determining the quality grade of trees, palms and other plants. The evaluation results are a basis for determining whether the landscape is complete/whole and meeting minimum standards for any government jurisdiction with interest
  • Summary Evaluation Report stating observations, recommendations and professional opinions for the landscape on property named. Project specifications and budgets for maintenance and remediation work are included in report
  • Attend review meeting with client (up to 2 hours) to discuss evaluation and plan recommended work items to meet budget constraints
  • Quality assurance inspections are additionally available to assure completion of remediation work as specified in report
  • Additional consulting, site visits and meetings are available as requested by client. This project may be used as the basis for a landscape damage claim

The following items are the major portions of work to be reviewed for inclusion in your Arboricultural Health and Condition Evaluation.

  • Arboricultural evaluation of the trees and palms using Earth Advisors Health and Condition Evaluation standards and worksheets
  • Can provide GPS locations and tree locations map for planning and permitting purposes
  • Provide summary report of evaluation that includes a tree list by address, work specifications for each item, and recommendations for improving the health and ongoing growth of these trees and palms
  • Review meeting with client to discuss evaluation and assist with next step decisions based on the report
  • Additional consulting, site visits and meetings, as requested by client

Earth Advisors will complete a tree inventory for all trees and palms in the properties as listed and included in the site plan or city map provided by the client. We will use hand-held data recorders with GIS/GPS data collection capabilities and a tree inventory database for collecting and tabulating the tree information. This is a standard method to reduce data errors and increase productivity in this type of work.

Our firm is a leader in evaluations and inventories for public and private properties. We have successfully performed tree inventories for many private properties, municipalities, counties or parishes, and other government agencies.

The following items are the major portions of work to be reviewed for inclusion in your tree inventory project:

  • GIS based computerized urban forest management dataset. There are up to 25 inventory data items and maintenance records that can be chosen for inclusion in your project. This dataset will operate on client’s own GIS program or database program. It can be a layer for the tree inventory information, maintenance records, and GPS position points. If no GIS program is in use, there is an additional cost for purchase and installation. There are tree inventory and urban forest management database programs available to use for this project. We will assist client in evaluating what is the most cost effective and usable software package to include for the project
  • Tree inventory by a professional arborist, collecting tree information and measurements for each tree included in this project. Project should require ISA Certified Arborist and SAF Certified Forester for inventory team. Dataset must be approved prior to starting data collection for this project
  • Collection of GPS location data for trees and other requested property features (property corners, building corners/walls, light poles, sports field outlines, parking lots, sidewalks, etc.) included in this project. These will be loaded into the GIS program with the tree inventory data
  • Setup and processing of GPS and tree inventory data records into GIS and/or tree inventory database program, reconciling of data points on maps, error checks and corrections, installation into client on-site computer
  • Training of client staff on site using your computer(s). Topics focus on use of tree inventory information and map layer in the GIS program. Class is one instructor for up to 6 people
  • Urban Forest Management Plan including summaries of data, estimated work budgets, area/section maps, tree maintenance specifications, and recommendations for improving values of your urban forest, while controlling and reducing overall maintenance costs

Earth Advisors can write performance based contracts for green industry professions. These contracts include the terms, conditions, work items, and qualifications for the project. The use of more specific, performance based standards improves the outcome of a project and allows for judgement of work quality. Example contracts to consider include landscape installation, grounds (or landscape) maintenance, and arboricultural maintenance. The specifications will categorize each work item with details and descriptions for each (i.e. structural pruning, clearance pruning, palm pruning, crown thinning, etc.).  Each contract ends with a bid form so these are ready to send out as bid requests, RFPs, RFBs, or RLIs to interested contractors.

The following items are the major portions of work to be reviewed for inclusion in your Bid Package:

  • Landscape Maintenance Contract and Bid Package:
    • We will write landscape maintenance contract and specifications for contracting landscape maintenance services for all turf, plant beds, hedges, shrubs within the property.  The specifications categorize work into mowing, edging, hedge pruning, ornamental pruning, fertilization, mulching, irrigation, pest management, cleanup, irrigation maintenance, etc
    • This contract will be written as a bid request for use in gaining bids from interested contractors.  It will include the specifications and qualifications for the work to be done
    • We will provide one draft copy for one review and editing by you.  A final copy will then be produced for use by this client only.  Any additional changes to the document will be billed for additionally at our normal consulting rate
  • Landscape Installation Contract and Bid Package:

    • We will write landscape installation service contract and specifications for contracting landscape installation services based on a landscape plan that will be part of the contract package given to vendors.  The plan details and the contract specifications need to be coordinated so that they are matched for each project
    • This contract will be written as a bid request for use in gaining bids from interested contractors.  It will include the specifications and qualifications for the work to be done
    • We will provide one draft copy for one review and editing by you.  A final copy will then be produced for use by this client only.  Any additional changes to the document will be billed for additionally at our normal consulting rate
  • Arboricultural Maintenance Contract and Bid Package:

    • We will write arboricultural maintenance service contract and specifications for contracting arboricultural maintenance services for the care and maintenance of trees and palms in all areas of the property
    • This contract will be written as a bid request for use in gaining bids from interested contractors.  It will include the specifications and qualifications for the work to be done
    • We will provide one draft copy for one review and editing by you.  A final copy will then be produced for use by this client only.  Any additional changes to the document will be billed for additionally at our normal consulting rate

  • On site and remote sensing evaluations performed by experienced professional staff. Our work is to verify existing site conditions to help with any permitting and site use issues. We work with architects, engineering firms, planners, architects, landscape architects, and development teams in many projects. We also work directly for property owners
  • Environmental projects are very time sensitive. Our reputation with many Agencies with Interest allows for streamlining the review process; saving time and money. We specialize in writing the correct language and descriptions that keep projects moving forward. Some of our past submittals have been used by agencies as models for future projects
  • Drafts for all documents to be provided for 1 review meeting (up to 1 hour) and 1 revision is included. Electronic copy and up to 2 hardcopies of items to be provided to client for use. Any additional revisions and changes requested by client are billed additionally to this contract at stated rates

Landscape Economics can assist you with regulatory violation resolutions. We will provide an environmental consultant who is experienced in the plant communities and site conditions for your property. We can evaluate the landscape items that are cited in the Violation Notice, produce field data worksheets and make recommendations for remediation.

The following items are the major portions of work to be reviewed for inclusion in your environmental violation settlement project:

  • Arboricultural Evaluation for the trees using Earth Advisors Health and Condition Evaluation standards and Worksheets 
  • Provide GPS tree locations on a recent aerial for all trees evaluated.  This includes producing a Tree Locations Map overlaid on aerial photo for client use
  • Provide Summary Report of Evaluation. Report includes: Tree List by address, Work Specifications for each tree, reasons for preserving and maintaining all trees that are not imminent hazards, and mitigation recommendations for those trees that require replacement
  • One review meeting with Client (up to 2 hours) to discuss Evaluation and prepare for negotiation meetings with City
  • Available for additional work including meetings (including Special Magistrate meeting), research, consulting, site visits as requested by client

Earth Advisors, Inc. offers hands-on field training classes in grounds maintenance, arboriculture, natural areas, and urban forestry. Average class prices are $1200 for full-day sessions and $600 for half-days, plus materials and travel, for up to 25 students per instructor. Students attending any of these classes receive a certificate of completion for training records and for CEU submittals. Assistance in doing self submittals for your professional certification, registration and license continuing education requirements is available on request.

All the classes are available customized for individual cities, counties, agencies, and businesses. We come to your site, work with your regulations and situations, use your equipment (for the proper practices and equipment use classes), and include your information for each class contracted. This is the best way to assure that your employees are getting the most specific training for their jobs available today. Grounds maintenance, landscape installation, pest control, arboricultural, landscape management and urban forestry topics/skills training that are not listed in this curriculum can be developed into on-site classes directly for your organization. The Landscape Advice Center is a service to provide landscape, urban forestry and environmental advice to the public or attendees at a seminar or conference. Earth Advisors consultants will bring display items, handouts and information to share at the Center. We concentrate on helping people achieve lower maintenance and sustainable landscapes.

Demonstrations and examples of residential landscapes, community enhancements, and commercial landscapes improved to be sustainable landscapes can also be shared. The Landscape Advice Center can be provided as a paid service or as a free educational service as part of Earth Advisors’ community services program.
